Churches cooperating with churches seeking to address the physical, emotional, community, and spiritual issues of families in Center Township, Indianapolis, Indiana.

About Indianapolis Urban Initiative

In January 2003, 22 local churches and 9 para-church ministries met collectively for the first time.  In this meeting we became aware of the magnitude of housing, family, gang, and hunger issues facing people in urban Indianapolis.  As a result of this meeting we engaged in 40 days of prayer for our city - our churches, elected officials, and those facing oppression and injustice.

Following paryer for the city and several discussions, the churches engaged in its first project - building a home to meet the housing needs of a local family already inrealtion to one of the churches.  You can read more about this project by selecting "Pilot Project" from the navigation menu to the left.

God is truly using the Initiative to foster partnerships between suburban and urban churches and ministries.  We also recognize that building homes and addressing other social issues is simply an inroad to living and sharing the gospel with all people.  That's what we endeavor to do...
